Talking about your life stressors is the key to your healing.

Do not let your mental health become an impediment to living a fulfilled life!  According to the American Psychiatric Association (APA),  between 70 and 90 percent of individuals have a significant reduction of symptoms and improved quality of life with a combination of  psychosocial treatments, medicine, and support. Talking to somebody that will keep your innermost secrets confidential can give you a sense of relief. It can also help you uncover new insights about yourself, get inspired, or simply be motivated to adjust unhealthy behaviors, or even something as simple as getting something off your chest.

  • What is the first appointment like?

Our first session will involve an evaluation of your needs. By the end of the evaluation, your therapist will be able to offer you a treatment plan to follow, if you decide to continue with therapy.

  • How do you set up counseling goals? What are they like?

At the end of your initial session, your therapist will summarize your presenting problem and will help you determine a long term goal for treatment. During your first month in therapy, you and your therapist will discuss short term treatment goals that will assist you in achieving your overall long term goal for therapy. Goals may include increasing coping skills, reducing frequency or intensity symptoms, improving relationships or returning to previous levels of functioning.

  • What does success look like for Hope?

We consider that a client has successfully completed treatment when they have completed at least 80 percent of their treatment goal or when they communicate that they are satisfied with their progress in treatment. A treatment plan review is completed every 90 days to discuss progress and revise goals for treatment.

  • What is a typical session like?

During your session with your therapist, you will have the opportunity to express your thoughts and feelings, discuss interventions that could improve your overall wellbeing and have a safe and confidential space to process your concerns. As therapists, we use many different evidenced based methods that would help you address your presenting problem.

  • How long are the sessions usually?

We will usually schedule one 45 to 60 minute session per week at a time we agree on, although some sessions may be longer, shorter, less or more frequent.

  • What kind of homework/reading do you give patients?

Therapy calls for a very active effort on your part. The greatest work in counseling will always be done outside of the counseling session, at which point you will get to practice the skills you and your therapist will be working on. Typical homework assignments may involve practicing a skill between sessions, completing worksheets or symptom tracking sheets or self-help readings. Your therapist will follow up on assigned tasks on a weekly basis with the purpose of your growth and accountability.

  • How do patients prepare for their first session?

Prior to your first appointment, we will send you an invitation link to join our client portal. In the portal you will be able to complete your intake documents, have access to messaging your therapist and manage appointments. We ask that you please complete your intake documents prior to your first session for the ease of your check in experience. Upon arrival, our receptionist will ask for a picture ID, insurance ID (if applicable) and payment method. We encourage you to bring potential questions you may have for your therapist during your first session.
